The lying mainstream media and Wikipedia perpetuate totally disproven LIES about antivax advocate Andrew Wakefield, director of 'Vaxxed'

(NaturalNews) The controversy continues to rage regarding the decision to cancel screening of the documentary film Vaxxed: From Cover-Up to Catastrophe at the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival, as meanwhile the mainstream media continues publishing false information about the film and its creator, Andrew Wakefield.

The media is guilty of perpetuating the lies from the years-old smear campaign against Wakefield, despite his exoneration on charges that he falsified data in his original 1998 research on the "possible" link between vaccines and autism.

The initial smear campaign

In 2010, more than a decade after Wakefield's research was published in medical journal The Lancet, a vaccine industry-backed investigation and smear campaign resulted in the loss of his license along with his reputation.

The mainstream media still refers back to the 2010 news reports when covering the story , conveniently ignoring the fact that since that time numerous legal decisions and the results of independent investigations have proven that Wakefield's research was indeed genuine and relevant.

Wakefield exonerated

By 2003, after legal battles and investigations, there had appeared numerous articles and reports - mostly ignored by the mainstream press, of course - exonerating the original research and stating that Dr. Wakefield had been "right all along."

Here's an excerpt from one of those articles - posted in 2013 at HealthImpactNews.com:

"Two landmark events – a government concession in the US Vaccine Court, and a groundbreaking scientific paper – confirm that physician, scientist, and Autism Media Channel [AMC] Director, Dr. Andrew Wakefield, and the parents were right all along...

"While repeated studies from around the world confirmed Wakefield's bowel disease in autistic children and his position that safety studies of the MMR are inadequate, Dr. Wakefield's career has been destroyed by false allegations. Despite this he continues to work tirelessly to help solve the autism catastrophe."

Here's an excerpt from another 2013 article posted at The Daily Sheeple:

"In short, Dr Wakefield had his license removed for daring to suggest further investigation into what he was careful to call a 'possible link' between vaccines and autism. And yet the public is still being told that Dr Wakefield's 1998 paper was an 'attempt to falsify a link between vaccines and autism' and was 'thoroughly discredited' even though, to anyone who bothers to actually read that 1998 paper or the GMC court transcript, it is plainly obvious that these are outright lies...

"Interesting that the senior author of Dr Wakefield's 1998 paper was exonerated of all charges of misconduct."

Mainstream media ignores the truth, continues pushing the lies

And yet, the mainstream media has continued to ignore the truth while perpetuating the lies regarding Dr. Wakefield's research and reputation.

A 2014 article that appeared on Upworthy.com and which was part of a series "made possible by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation" had this to say about Dr. Wakefield:

"After years of controversy and making parents mistrust vaccines, along with collecting $674,000 from lawyers who would benefit from suing vaccine makers, it was discovered he had made the whole thing up."

An outright fabrication, brought to you by Bill Gates...

For several years now, Wikipedia has resisted any revisions of its entry on Andrew Wakefield - it's obvious from the first paragraph that its main purpose is to discredit the man and his research:

"Andrew Jeremy Wakefield (born c. 1957) is a British former gastroenterologist and medical researcher, known for his fraudulent 1998 research paper in support of the now-discredited claim that there was a link between the administration of the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine, and the appearance of autism and bowel disease."

Not a single mention that the charges were proven to be bogus several years ago.

It's clear that the vaccine industry's influence extends throughout the mainstream media. And the pulling of Vaxxed: From Cover-Up to Catastrophe is further evidence of its influence on even the film industry.
