(NaturalNews) On Monday, a bombshell story a year in the making and which will have major implications for scores of people broke:
Leaders, heads of state, drug dealers and other criminal enterprises are using a number of tax havens around the world to hide wealth and conduct illegal monetary transactions.
According to what
Fusion – which played a major role in assisting in the investigation of what has become known as the "Panama Papers" – the names involved amount to "the Wikileaks of the mega-rich" and include leaders from the Middle East, Europe and Africa:
It's being called the "Panama Papers" — a trove of 11.5 million leaked internal documents from the Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca, showing how hundreds of thousands of people with money to hide used anonymous shell corporations across the world. Fusion's investigative unit was one of the more than 100 media organizations that dove into the files — and found drug dealers, arms traders, human traffickers, fraudsters. We also found no shortage of politicians or their family members.
Perhaps oddly, though, missing from the list of names are any officials from the United States or any known criminal enterprises known to operate in the U.S.
What's more, according to
Breitbart News, the leak of the Panama Papers
was facilitated, in part, by a group funded by billionaire George Soros, as
the mainstream media focuses primarily on the connection of several of the individuals to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Ties to Putin are tenuous, at best
As
Breitbart London noted further:
Despite the high profile figures directly implicated in the Panama Papers leak – the largest financial leak in history – the mainstream media has been leading on the tenuous links to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Indeed the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), which has facilitated the leak, leads with a picture of Mr. Putin on its website with the headline: "Offshore network tied to Putin".
Some of the high-profile names include Argentinian President Mauricio Macri, who came to office promising, among other things, to fight corruption; former Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Alawi; Icelandic Prime Minister Sigmundur David Gunnlaugsson; King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia; President Petro Poroshenko of Ukraine, and others. There
are connections to Putin – sort of. The links are not actually to him, but to members of his inner circle.
The real questions become: How did a German news organization that began the investigation come into possession of the information? And who benefits, ultimately, from the revelations?
Breitbart provides some insight.
"[ICIJ], which describes itself as 'a global network of more than 190 investigative journalists in more than 65 countries who collaborate on in-depth investigative stories' lists as some of its recent financial funders," including the Open Society Foundation, funded primarily by Soros, who is also backing
Hillary Clinton for president.
'Captains of an offshore industry with major impact on world's finances'
"The Open Society Foundations back hundreds of pro open borders, mass immigration groups across the European Union, United Kingdom, and United States of America,"
Breitbart noted.
Also listed as a recent donor to ICIJ is the Left-wing Ford Foundation, which "has funded everything from Sesame Street to the radical TV show Democracy Now."
There are many other groups, like the Pew Charitable Trust, but they all fund
left-wing political causes and issues, so it seems as though this may be an attempt to bleed political opponents financially.
For instance,
this Fusion report noted that those involved may be hiding between $21 and $32 trillion in tax havens – more than the entire
U.S. national debt – according to data from the World Bank, IMF, UN and central banks of 139 countries.
The men who founded the Panamanian firm – Ramon Fonseca and Jurgen Mossack – "are captains in an offshore industry that has had a major impact on the world's finances since the 1970s," the report noted. "As their business has grown to encompass more than 500 employees and collaborators, they've expanded into jurisdictions around the
world – including parts of the United States."
The reasons why all of this graft, corruption and greed is being exposed now most definitely has a purpose, but what, exactly, is not clear.
Yet.
