The sticky but successful solution to natural hair growth? Castor oil

Castor oil

(NaturalNews) Are your eyebrows thinning? Is your mop top getting sparse? Are you finding more and more hair in your comb, your sink and your bathtub, than you'd care to find? If so, it might be time for you to consider using something to regrow your hair before it's too late.

Of course, traditional medical science, in cahoots with Big Pharma, has developed pills and other medicinal treatments that don't work well and that pollute your body with unwarranted chemicals. You can avoid that pitfall by using an all-natural product that you might not have considered when it comes to hair growth: castor oil.

It's true. While it might be a little messier than you're used to, castor oil has proven hair – and skin – benefits, so you shouldn't overlook it just because of its consistency.

As noted by Danna Norek on her NaturalNews Blog, castor oil can even help regrow eyelashes and eyebrows:

I first stumbled on castor oil as a remedy for regrowing thin eyebrows. I had over-plucked my brows back in the nineties when it was the hip thing to have pencil thin brows, and they never did quite recover. It became necessary for me to pencil in the "bald" spots and I missed the natural look of real hair where these spots were missing.

Anti-fungal as well

Norek says she bought a hexane-free, organic and cold-pressed castor oil, and began applying it to her eyebrows every evening after she washed her face. She says that after about three months she began noticing her eyebrows were thickening, and noticeably so, as well as growing darker – a result she says had to be from the nightly application of castor oil.

Others have also reported good hair regrowth results using castor oil. Though it is often used as a laxative, reports Healthy And Natural World, it "has a wide variety of other health benefits, including many pertaining to hair and hair growth, as well as for facial oil cleansing method, stretch marks, dark spots and more."

Why? What makes this product such a uniquely effective substance for these conditions? As Norek reports, it's castor oil's ingredients:

Castor oil is high in ricinoleic acid. This acid is a very effective natural anti-bacterial and anti-fungal agent. This can help keep any fungus or bacteria from inhibiting hair growth. Since the oil is also very thick, it may help to prevent hair loss simply by helping to coat the hair and protect it from falling out.

Castor oil is also high in omega 9 fatty acids, which are nourishing to both the hair and the follicle, as well as the surrounding skin. Castor oil has a unique ability to be deeply penetrating, and this helps it to deliver its nourishment deeply into the pores and the follicles that produce hair.

Smooth and regrow hair

In addition, castor oil has a high gloss, so it will give your hair a glossy shine as well. Just remember that a little of the oil goes a long way, so it's best to add just a very small amount to the ends of your hair, rather than putting it all over your scalp, if you just want a natural hair smoother.

However, if you are using castor oil to regrow hair on your head, then it will need to be applied as a scalp treatment. That can be a bit difficult, however, because of its thickness. You will likely be better off adding some melted coconut oil, apricot kernel oil or another lighter oil so you can spread the castor oil more smoothly and easily.

"If you're simply looking to help thicken hair that is thinning at the edges of your hairline, you can use pure castor oil, with a light hand of course. Another use is to apply the oil to eyelashes to help thicken and strengthen them, as well as to help prevent thinning and shedding," Norek writes.
