Why diet and exercise are NOT enough for optimal health
I know that statement sounds 'crazy' – especially coming from me – right? But, with over 30 years of experience – in the health and fitness industry – I can tell you it's true. More than you can imagine, people have told me that they eat a healthy diet and exercise – yet they still feel horrible. What's going on here?
In reality, just about all of us have been exposed to dangerous toxins through the food we eat and the air we breathe – which affect our hormones and overall wellbeing. For example, when I was much younger, my favorite snacks were the worst foods you can imagine - loaded with hormone disturbing chemicals. In addition, for decades, I walked around with 14 mercury-based 'silver' fillings in my mouth – which seriously inhibited my ability to absorb nutrients and, no doubt, affected my emotional wellbeing.
Finally, in terms of exercising, I was intense – competing in basketball, racquetball and road racing (running) events. But, thinking back now,
I know this lifestyle only added stress to my life and didn't make me feel healthier.
When I improved my eating habits and even toned down my crazy exercise routine – I didn't really feel much better. I was still short tempered and impatient for more years than I care to remember. Clearly, my life was out of balance and eating organic food was not the only answer for me.
Reality check: Hormonal imbalances pose a serious threat to health and life expectancy
I now know that hormones (and neurotransmitters) are essential for just about every mental, emotional and physical function within us. In fact, if your hormones are out of balance – you increase the risk of inflammatory-related diseases such as, arthritis, heart disease, diabetes and cancer.
But, the main point (for today) to remember is that just eating more organic food or starting an exercise routine - in most cases - will not reverse disease conditions without addressing hormonal imbalances. Bottom line, each person has a unique set of circumstances that brought about their current health crisis and this needs to be addressed – on an individual basis.
For most people, this will require a careful examination of life from top to bottom. Besides eating a healthy diet and exercising, how many toxins are you really exposed to on a daily basis? Are you missing key nutrients? Do you need to repair your digestive system to
improve nutrient absorption? And, finally, are you an unknowing victim of self-imposed (limiting) beliefs? (Remember, your beliefs guide future behavior)
All of these issues affect your hormones and, ultimately, the entire direction of your life for better or worse. On the next NaturalNews Talk Hour, get a specific plan of action to balance hormones and achieve optimal health.
