(NaturalNews) Whether or not Americans have a right to free speech increasingly depends on what the purveyors of political correctness on the Left sanction as "proper" or "improper," no matter how hypocritical, insane or outrageously insensitive.
Cases in point: The dramatic differences between what the mainstream media and culture considered improper speech (regarding the recent killing by police of two radical Islamist jihadist-wannabes in Garland, Texas, during, ironically, a free speech event) and a late-night "comedian" who satirized, shamed and humiliated children who have been injured and damaged by vaccines.
If you recall, the event in Garland,
sponsored by the American Freedom Defense Initiative, was a contest to see who could draw the best caricature of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad, which is widely prohibited by the faith. The organization's president, Pamela Geller, an ardent supporter of free speech, defended the event.
"The Islamic jihadis are determined to suppress our freedom of speech violently," she told CNN. "They struck in Paris and Copenhagen recently, and now in Texas."
PC is the same as Orwell's NewspeakGeller's defense of her event garnered no small amount of criticism from a number of Muslim sympathizers. But the greater outrage was saved for conservative comedian Evan Sayet; after the shooting, he tweeted out: "My favorite drawings at the Muhammad cartoon festival in Texas were the two chalk outlines out front" -- a reference to drawings by police on the pavement around the two bodies of the attackers.
Sayet was immediately criticized as being "insensitive" by a number of people on Twitter, which he acknowledged
in an interview with The Daily Caller but which he dismissed as so much political correctness.
"Political Correctness -- which is just a euphemism for the totalitarian concept of 'Newspeak' written about by Orwell in
1984 -- has nearly destroyed comedy in the same way that it has nearly destroyed education, journalism and the other fields where the powers-that-be are on the Left," Sayet told the DC.
"Now, just as the 'education' system is used to indoctrinate children and 'journalism' is used to give credence to Leftist policies and positions, comedy (and the whole of the entertainment industry) is used to reinforce Leftist propaganda," he said. "I only regret we live in a society where a joke at the expense of would-be mass murderers is something that anyone thinks I have to defend. And, again, the Leftists have accomplished their goal. Who is really irreverent here, me in a silly tweet about would-be mass murderers or those who sought to assault that which SHOULD be revered, the First Amendment right -- the HUMAN right -- of
free speech?"
Some negative responses to his tweet included:
"Of course it is. It's the people like you that make me hate this country more than I already do. Have a nice life."
"NO! JUST NO! I will defend free
speech vehemently. But as a Christian I will NEVER REJOICE in the death of anyone."
"Death is never funny. Even when it's necessary."
But if the subject turns to vaccine-damaged children, and the comedian is Jimmy Kimmel,
boy, that's funny!
Cultural and ethnic minorities -- and now vaccine-choice advocates -- have historically been persecutedAs reported by
Natural News editor Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, in a March 2 article, Kimmel pummeled vaccine-damaged children and their parents (see his distasteful rant
here). Adams wrote:
In this astonishing display of bigoted hate speech, Jimmy Kimmel legitimizes the public's verbal abuse and aggressive bullying of children like Angelica Black, a child whose family was recently awarded a $2 million compensation by the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program
after it was factually proven that vaccines caused severe, permanent brain damage that crippled Angelica Black for life.Adams goes on to point out that most Americans have never even heard of the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program. He also notes that "anti-vaxxers," as vaccine freedom advocates are being labeled, are being ridiculed and desensitized in a way that ethnic and cultural minorities in the past have been demeaned.
Geller should beware; her
free speech event which spurred two people to attempt mass murder is being panned as improper, while
their actions, in some U.S. cultural circles, are being praised as
proper and
justified. After all, they believe, Geller
deserved it.
