(NaturalNews) Of course you want to find that magic potion that will dry up pimples, heal your skin, and prevent future breakouts. It doesn't exist. If you truly want beautiful, clear, healthy skin, you need to find the cause of your acne, rather than just treat the symptoms.

If your liver is too congested to filter impurities, they will ooze out of your skin. If your hormones are out of balance, that imbalance may be a huge factor (especially if breakouts coincide with a woman's cycle). If you want beautiful, healthy skin, you have to start from within.

Step one: Eat a truly nutritious diet. That means toss out all the processed foods. Eat a diet consisting of 80% fresh, raw, organic produce - more vegetables than fruit. Do not eat anything with artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, MSG, trans fats, or GMOs. Make sure your meat is organic. Avoid all allergens (any food you know causes a sensitivity). Stop eating sugar! It feeds bacteria and yeast. Add healthy probiotics to your diet. Omega 3 fatty acids are essential. Add flax seed oil, fish oil, krill oil, or an Omega 3 oil blend to your daily diet. Learn more about a healthy diet. (See link below).

Step two: Get your gut healthy. If the ratio of good bacteria to bad bacteria and yeast in your gut is not optimum, your entire system is constantly dealing with an onslaught of toxins produced by bad bacteria and yeast. Learn how to balance the gut and kill off Candida. (See link below).

Step three: Stop using conventional soaps and shampoos. Use only organic products on your skin and scalp. If you are using ANY antibacterial soaps, you are killing off the good bacteria that helps keep the bad bacteria in check.

Step four: Keep it clean. While you are working on clearing up chronic skin blemishes, wash your hands before treating blemishes and use clean washrags to rinse your face. Change your pillowcase on a daily basis.

Remember, you will not completely clear up blemishes until you balance your hormones and clean up your diet. However, you can use the following natural remedies to hurry along the process:

Natural skin treatments for acne

  • Apple cider vinegar - It is an antibacterial that also kills yeast while correcting your skin's pH. You can use it straight or dilute in water (3 parts water to 1 part vinegar). Dab on with a cotton ball after washing and drying your face. [2]
  • Coconut oil - If you dry out your skin, it will ramp up oil production. Coconut oil will help moisturize your skin. It also has antifungal and antibacterial qualities. Use it alone or use it as a medium for essential oils such as tea tree oil or neem oil for an extra boost of antibacterial and antifungal treatment. (Add 3-8 drops of essential oil to a tablespoon of coconut oil). [3, 1]
  • Baking soda - Many sites suggest using a baking soda paste made with water to wash and exfoliate, to dab onto blemishes, or to use as a mask. Individual reports vary, some with good results followed by bad. While baking soda may have some good initial results, its alkalinity will become a problem over time. [4]
  • Aloe vera - You can use aloe vera alone for spot treatment or with essential oils such as tea tree oil or neem oil. Aloe vera can also be used as a mask. Use gel or better yet, straight from the plant. Rub on and leave for 20 minutes before rinsing. [5]
Combine topical remedies with balancing your intestinal flora, and balancing your hormones, and you're got a holistic approach to acne that won't do long term damage to your skin and make the problem worse. Don't underestimate the intestinal flora. Killing the Candida and balancing the gut will help balance the hormones and everything else will fall into place; you won't even need topical remedies for long.
