Coke and Pepsi replacing toxic brominated vegetable oil (BVO) with another chemical: sucrose acetate isobutyrate (SAIB)

(NaturalNews) Coca-Cola and Pepsico have both announced they are removing brominated vegetable oil (BVO) from their beverage products following a sustained social media campaign that protested the practice. Brominated vegetable oil is a flame retardant, and it's usually made from genetically modified corn or soy derivatives bonded with a bromine atom.

All bromines are endocrine disruptors, just like fluoride and chlorine (they're all in the same column on the Table of Elements). They can also interfere with iodine absorption by the thyroid, breast tissue and prostate tissue, causing nutritional deficiencies which can promote cancer.

If you've been drinking Mountain Dew, Gatorade, Fanta or other similar beverages made by Coke or Pepsi, you've been drinking brominated vegetable oil.

The 'net is loudly applauding the removal of BVO in these beverages, but almost no one seems to be aware of what they're replacing it with: sucrose acetate isobutyrate.

The idea of removing all synthetic chemicals from their products has apparently never occurred to Coke and Pepsi. Their products, after all, are full of artificial sweeteners and other chemicals, and it turns out they need to use emulsifier chemicals to prevent all their chemical ingredients from separating.

So now they're turning to sucrose acetate isobutyrate (SAIB), a chemical we would all hope is safer than BVO. But one study published in Food and Chemical Toxicology found that dogs fed this chemical showed enlarged livers and altered liver enzyme function: (1)

Preliminary short-term toxicity studies of sucrose acetate isobutyrate (SAIB) in the dog demonstrated that addition of this additive to the diet was associated with an increase in liver size and elevated serum alkaline phosphatase activity with no evidence of pathological change...

Sucrose acetate isobutyrate is produced by the Eastman Chemical Company (2), which describes the chemical as a "weighting agent or flavor emulsion stabilizer to prevent separation of essential citrus oils. It is also used as a fragrance fixative and to provide transfer resistance in lipstick."

Scientific studies show that sucrose acetate isobutyrate, when ingested by humans, is largely exhaled through respiration, indicating that the chemical enters the blood supply upon being ingested orally and then makes its way to the lungs. (3)

If you drink factory-made beverages, you are ingesting chemicals

The bottom line in this story? Even when companies like Coca-Cola and Pepsi are forced by public pressure to remove a toxic chemical in their products, they simply replace it with another synthetic chemical. Either way, you're still drinking synthetic chemicals.

The fact that consumers drink Gatorade at all is a sad commentary on the decline of modern civilization and the horrific state of the toxic food supply. Instead of drinking fresh, raw juices that provide plant-based nutrients, millions of people drink synthetic, factory-made artificial "sports drinks" laced with synthetic chemicals and artificial colors.

And only when the public raises a stink about a toxic ingredient does the manufacturers make any changes. But even those changes only replace one toxic chemical ingredient with another.

This is how, day after day, millions of consumers are poisoned into a state of chronic degenerate disease with synthetic, processed foods and beverages.
