Boku Super Food releases first ever nutrition food bar created by healthy people
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor
(NaturalNews) The Boku Super Food company (www.BokuSuperfood.com) has released the world's first nutrition bar designed by health-conscious people. More specifically, this bar was designed by NaturalNews readers! Here's the amazing story...
Back in 2008, after realizing there wasn't a really good nutrition bar on the market that catered to the interests of health-conscious people, we released a survey asking readers to tell us what they wanted to see in a food bar. Over 1,500 NaturalNews readers responded to that survey (remember?), telling us what flavors you preferred, what level of sweetness you wanted, how many grams of protein you wanted to see in the bar, the preferred price point and so on.
We collected all this data and turned it over to a vegan protein product company that told us they would formulate a food bar with it, but that project fell through due to a lack of available funds.
The idea for the "Perfect Food Bar"
Fast forward two years, and I find myself in a public park in Ojai, California, sweating it out on a morning Boku Boot Camp exercise activity organized by the Boku Super Food company. We set off on a half-mile run to wrap up the morning's exercise and Reno, the founder of Boku, beats me to the finish line fair and square, with time to spare. (He's in pretty good shape, and he drinks Boku Super Food every morning, too.)
After catching my breath, we start chatting about the health food industry and I tell him about this survey data describing the "perfect food bar" that the people really want. Reno's a smart guy and he knows something valuable when he sees it, so he tells me right there in the parking lot of this public park that he wants Boku to make that food bar with some Boku Super Food mixed in to boost the nutrition!
It was a great idea. So I agreed to turn over the survey data to him. Their food bar formulator, Dr BJ Adrezin, took the information from NaturalNews readers and went right to work formulating the bar.
A true breakthrough in a healthy, tasty nutrition bar
Formulating this food bar was especially tricky. NaturalNews readers said they wanted a bar that wasn't too sweet (because all the conventional bars on the market are really just candy bars, it seems). They wanted it to be high in protein but not using any soy protein or whey protein (virtually all protein bars on the market use soy protein). They wanted agave nectar as the preferred sweetener (there's not much in it, actually, but the ingredient is "premium blue agave nectar").
They wanted it to be completely non-GMO, gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free and as raw as possible (cold processed). They wanted it to be nutrient dense and delivering a huge assortment of antioxidants, trace minerals and phytonutrients. And on top of that, they wanted it to taste good and cost less than other bars.
Now, most food bar formulators would look at this list and just say it's impossible. You can't make a premium nutrition bar using no soy, no cheap sugars, no fillers AND make it cheap, too. And besides, how do you make a bar taste good when it's so nutrient dense with superfoods in the first place?
The first bar samples arrive
Well, I'm not sure exactly how he pulled it off, but Dr BJ Adrezin must be some kind of formulation genius or something because when he sent me some samples a few months back, I was just blown away. I literally could not believe that these delicious chewy chocolate bars were packed with Boku Super Food, brown rice protein and other nutrients that we all love so much here at NaturalNews.
The bar samples were an instant hit, and we devoured them in days! (They were wrapped in plain labels with no artwork or anything because they were so new.)
Since then, we've been in a Boku Food Bar dry spell, not having any of these bars around until the recent production run got underway. That production run happened last week, and as we speak, there are roughly 50,000 Boku Food Bars just arriving in the Boku warehouse in Ojai, California.
And here's the new label with the new name: Boku Bar Chocolate Fudge Brownie

(Looks delicious, huh?)
This is the organic nutrition food bar you and I have been waiting for! It's USDA certified organic. Certified vegan. Certified Fair Trade. Certified Kosher. And even certified as "Produced with Solar Energy."
There are no compromises with this bar. No junk. No HFCS. No soy protein. And definitely NOT too sweet. It's just sweet enough to be likeable by healthy people like you and me, but not so sweet that it's a turn off.
The texture is amazing, and the Chocolate Fudge Brownie taste is simply wonderful.

The world's first food bar created BY the People, FOR the People
I don't know of any other production food bar in the world that was actually created to meet the preferences of the customers. This is the first such bar in the world, and it was created with your input as a NaturalNews reader!
I think that's really cool. Finally, we are getting the bar we all want! Aren't you tired of trying to find "protein bars" and seeing how everything is made with cheap soy protein extracted with hexane? Are you tired of seeing bars made with obscene amounts of corn syrup solids or even High Fructose Corn Syrup?
Now, there are some good food bars out there. The Organic Food Bar is one of my favorite, but even it's considered too sweet by many health-conscious people. There's Larabar, but it's not organic! (And Lara sold out to General Mills last year anyway.) There are other high-end bars, but they cost a ridiculous amount and deliver tiny bars, often less than 40 grams a bar. (Boku Super Food bar is 68 grams. It's a "real" sized bar.)
I don't know about you, but until now, I could never find the perfect food bar that offered superfoods, protein, trace minerals and more -- and that was reasonably priced (see below). That's why the introduction of this Boku Super Food Bar is truly so exciting for not just me, but for everybody at NaturalNews (and our readers as well).
Here are the ingredients of the bar:
Organic Almond Butter, Organic Boku Super Protein Blend (Organic Raw Sprouted Brown Rice Protein and Organic Boku Super Food), Organic Premium Blue Agave Nectar, Organic Agave Inulin, Organic Fair Trade Cocoa, Organic Biodynamic Raisins, Organic Almonds, Organic Strawberries, Organic Sprouted Quinoa, Celtic Sea Salt
That's it! And the big three ingredients are the Almond Butter, Boku Super Protein and Boku Super Food. The agave sweetener is a distant fourth because these bars aren't very sweet at all. It's just enough sweetness to keep the bar palatable without turning it into a candy bar. I gave samples to health-conscious adults and they loved them! Some of their comments were specifically about it "not having an overpowering sweetness" like you find in more conventional food bars.
Once again, this bar is:
• USDA certified organic
• Certified VEGAN
• Certified KOSHER
• Certified Fair Trade (cacao)
• Made with solar energy
• Cold processed
• Non-GMO
• Soy-free
• Dairy-free
• Gluten-free
• Wheat-free
• Sprouted (brown rice protein)
• Formulated by a doctor
• Created by YOU, the NaturalNews readers!
On top of that, here's how the macro nutrients measure up in one bar:
• 290 calories in a bar (because it's a real full-sized bar, not some pricey half-bar)
• 15 grams of protein
• 30 grams of carbohydrates (15g sugar, 11g fiber)
• 13 grams of fat
• Only 155mg of sodium (uses Celtic Sea Salt)
The Chocolate Fudge Brownie flavor of these bars is "deliciously potent," as the label says. They're really, really good, and they satisfy my craving for nutrition in a convenient, portable format.
And even though they use absolutely no chemical additives or preservatives, they have a one-year shelf life (or more if you refrigerate them), so you can buy 'em by the box and save big.
An introductory price that will make you smile
I've been in the natural health industry for many years, and I've been to trade shows, interviewed hundreds of people and toured health product companies. I've seen first-hand how much mark-up there has to be in a bar that goes through traditional retail distribution channels.
If this Boku Super Food Bar were available at retail, it would have to cost at least $5 a bar just to break even.
But in your original survey responses, you told us that you wanted a food bar costing under $3 each. So when I turned over the survey data to Reno, I told him point blank: "This bar cannot cost our readers more than $2.99 a bar." And then I added, "And you can't cut corners. No fillers. No junk."
He honestly didn't know if it was even achievable. If you ask anyone in the food bar business who knows what they're doing, they will tell you straight up that a certified organic bar with this much nutrition in it cannot be sold at retail for under $5 without losing money.
So Reno and I talked every few weeks, and I kept reminding him of our goal to keep this at $2.99, and he committed to doing the best he could to achieve that price.
In the end, the bar ended up being over $2.99. A box of 12 now sells on the Boku Super Food Store for $47.88 ($3.99 for each bar). With the nutrient quality and organic ingredients that go into this bar, it was economically impossible to make it available at $2.99 without losing money (and that's not good for continued business, obviously).
So I called Reno one evening and pleaded with him to somehow make this available to NaturalNews readers at the promised price of $2.99 a bar, if even as some sort of introductory offer when the bar launches.
Reno is a great guy and he agreed! So right now, while supplies last, Boku has somewhere around 5,000 boxes (with 12 bars each) of these new, breakthrough superfood bars that were created by you!
And they're available to you at an introductory price of just $35.99 for a box of 12 (that's $2.99 per bar).

I'm buying ten boxes
I recommend you consider buying several boxes for two reasons. First, these food bars make awesome Christmas gifts because they're brand new and they have a really cool story behind them as I've shared with you here, and secondly, once these 5,000 boxes are out the door, I don't know if we can ever get this $2.99 price again.
The next run might take a few months to complete and even then, the bars would almost certainly going to be priced higher unless some miracle occurs in the supply chain that lowers the price of almond butter (and food prices are going up, not down, everywhere around the world).
All the bars are "Chocolate Fudge Brownie" flavor. This is the only flavor available, and it's really delicious. They nailed it with the chocolate!
I'm personally ordering ten boxes for myself and my family to get us through the holidays. Why? Because I know that all you guys are probably going to buy out the rest of the inventory over the next few days, and we're going to be waiting many more months before another production run takes place. I do not want to run out of Boku Food Bars between now and January, because then I'd have to beg you to sell me a spare box or something.
Reading all this, you might be thinking... seriously, are these really that good? Well, all I can tell you is that this is the best food bar I've ever eaten. It's not a candy bar; it's not a soy protein bar; and it's not a bunch of filler. It's a seriously nutritious Chocolate Fudge Brownie superfood bar with brown rice protein and a bit of sweetener. It's the bar I want when I'm traveling, hiking or exercising at the gym.
It's also the bar you can't find anywhere else. This is NOT available at Whole Foods (and if it were, it would surely cost over $5 a bar). It's not even available through the NaturalNews Store, in fact. You can't get it anywhere other than the Boku Store, and as of today, only NaturalNews readers even know about this! (Although I'm sure word will spread.)
Your satisfaction is guaranteed
How do you know you'll like the bar? Normally I would recommend you try a bar first, before buying a box (or multiple boxes), but in this case by the time you try a bar, there might not be any left for sale.
So I spoke to Reno and here's the deal: If you purchase these Boku Bars and for some reason don't like them, you can return the unused bars and boxes for a full refund. (You pay the shipping, of course, but you get a refund on your product purchase.) So if for some reason you don't love these bars as much as I do, or if you don't like the texture (it's like a chewy fudge brownie), or whatever reason, you can return these and you're out nothing. (The bars do contain almonds, so don't order if you're allergic to almonds.)
But I'm pretty sure you're going to like these... a lot! Remember, they're not too sweet, they contain vegan brown rice protein (15g total protein!), and they're based on organic almond butter. The flavors, textures and nutrients are all just perfectly balanced here. You're going to be thrilled with this bar.
Try a box at this introductory price while this inventory lasts
Pick up a box and try this bar yourself. This bar has made history as the first "People's Food Bar" ever created by a superfood company. You deserve to taste it and see what NaturalNews readers like you helped create.
This inventory of 5,000 boxes will be gone in a few days or a couple of weeks at most. (It's actually now 4,990 boxes because I ordered 10 before I posted this story... grinning... )
Today's price at the Boku store reflects a $12 discount per box as part of this introductory offer for NaturalNews readers, many of whom helped create this bar. (If you're reading this article some time after November 2010 and you don't see this discount price on the Boku website, that's because the discount is no longer available.)
Click here to take advantage of this $12 discount per box while supplies last.
While you're at the Boku Store, by the way, you may also want to pick up some of the Boku Brown Rice Protein or the Boku Immune Support -- an awesome immune formula for the coming winter season! This immune formula is alcohol free, and even kids can take it no problem. Check out the details on the store page link above.
And please, when you try these yourself, give us your feedback and tell us how you like these bars. YOU had a hand in creating these. And so did I. By creating this food bar, we made history.
And this history tastes really delicious. :-)
Enjoy!
