Gastric bypass surgery causes pregnant mother to lose her fetus

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

A pregnant woman has died of complications related to gastric bypass surgery. Her death occurred 18 months after she underwent the surgical procedure, and was apparently due to a tear in her small intestine that resulted from the gastric bypass surgical procedure. Here's how it happened -- when she was 8 months pregnant, she suddenly began suffering from stomach pain, nausea, and vomiting. She was admitted to the emergency room, where doctors discovered that her fetus had died and that her small intestine had herniated.

This is the first known incident of this type, but it is raising questions about the safety of gastric bypass surgery -- and more importantly, whether women who intend to get pregnant should be undergoing the procedure. This gastric bypass surgical procedure does involve, of course, removing parts of internal organs. This is something that is unnatural to the human body and a procedure that I have often described as barbaric. Now it turns out it may be a risk to unborn children as well as to the mother.

As many as 110,000 people are going to undergo gastric bypass surgery this year in the United States, and as it turns out, most of those patients are women. This procedure has seen a sudden rise in popularity due to positive publicity about how easy it is to lose weight by undergoing this radical procedure. Myself and many others have remained outspoken opponents of this procedure, not only because it involves a very risky operation that kills a reported 1% of all patients right on the operating table, but also because it maims the person for life. It removes important components of their digestive tract. It is similar to receiving a lobotomy for your stomach. And besides, there are much better ways to lose weight and reverse even morbid obesity.

Cutting into a patient with scalpels and surgical tools is not a method for lifetime weight loss. In fact, I believe that one day the procedure will be outlawed, and it will be looked upon as one of the last barbaric vestiges of conventional medicine and a society desperate to lose weight.
