Cuomo, now with NewsNation, first made mention of his vaccine injury during an interview with fellow vaccine-injured guest Shaun Barcavage on May 3. The nurse practitioner experienced severe adverse reactions after his hospital pressured him to take the COVID-19 vaccine.
Days later on May 7, Cuomo admitted during an appearance on "The PBD Podcast" that he is taking the antiviral drug to address his vaccine injury symptoms. He told podcast host Patrick Bet-David: "I am taking a regular dose of ivermectin. My doctor was using it during COVID-19 on her family and on patients, and it was working for them."
According to Cuomo, the entire clinical community knew from the beginning of the pandemic that ivermectin was not harmful. But he added that "they weren't saying anything" as they were playing scared.
"We were given bad information about ivermectin. [I] didn't know that at the time," the former CNN anchor confessed. "[I] know it now, admit it now [and am] reporting on it now, because I think that's the job."
Cuomo also criticized how the mainstream media portrayed ivermectin and admitted that podcast host Joe Rogan was correct. The host of "The Joe Rogan Experience" and former mixed martial arts commentator discussed ivermectin as a treatment for COVID-19 early in the pandemic.
"Ivermectin was a boogeyman early on in COVID. You couldn't talk about it; that was wrong. [It] should have been part of our common practice to see if it could help or not," Cuomo told Bet-David.

The NewsNation anchor also shared with Bet-David the results of his bloodwork, with doctors showing him "glowing micro-clot stuff." He also recounted his doctor advising him against taking the COVID-19 booster, with Cuomo being told: "You have so many antibodies that we don't know what the vaccine [booster] would do 'for you' as opposed to 'to you.'"
Ivermectin has been a subject of much controversy during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite being a well-established antiparasitic drug with a favorable safety profile, its use for treating COVID-19 was met with skepticism and resistance from mainstream media and some public health authorities.
The Food and Drug Administration launched a campaign against the drug in 2021, calling it "horse paste" and warning people not to use it to treat or prevent COVID-19. But several physicians beg to differ, including Dr. Pierre Kory.
According to Kory, the co-founder and president emeritus of the Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance, ivermectin is one of the safest medicines in history. "I use it for long COVID and long [vaccine injury], and I have patients on it who've been on it daily for up to two years," he said.
Numerous studies have even shown ivermectin's potential effectiveness, with one clinical trial demonstrating its ability to reduce ICU admissions among COVID-19 patients by 83 percent.(Related: Ivermectin helped people RECOVER FASTER from COVID-19 infections, study finds.)
Researchers from Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences in Iran were responsible for this trial, the results of which were published April 30 in the Jundishapur Journal of Health Sciences. It involved 110 patients with moderate to severe confirmed COVID-19 infection. The study's findings demonstrated that ivermectin reduced the need for intensive care unit (ICU) admission by 83 percent and shortened the median hospitalization duration from six days in the placebo group to four days in the ivermectin group.
Moreover, it found no serious side effects related to ivermectin use. The authors wrote: "Among those administered ivermectin, there were no reports of sensitivity reactions, adverse effects or drug-related toxicity."
"I think the war on ivermectin is over," Kory added. "It was fought to a stalemate – meaning those that don’t believe it works will not change their minds."
