A train collided with a person in Wasco, Calif., just prior to the incident, killing the struck person instantly and leaving a trail of dismembered body parts. Twenty-seven-year-old Resendo Tellez was then observed picking up the leg and carrying it around town.
The Kern County Sheriff posted video footage of the bizarre incident to X, though it was later removed for "violating the X rules."
It all began on Friday, March 22, when the Kern County Fire Department was dispatched to a stretch of the train station in Wasco around 8:05 a.m. Not long after the incident, Tellez was seen picking up the leg to take with him.
A bystander who recorded all this on his cellphone yelled at Tellez in Spanish to ask what he was doing. A few moments later, Tellez turned to the camera and waved at it before wiping his face on his sleeve and walking away.
When police arrived at the scene, they ordered Tellez to stop chewing on the dismembered leg, but he disobeyed them and proceeded to flee.
KGET reported on the incident and shared the following video footage publicly (warning: viewer discretion advised):

As bizarre and disturbing an incident as this is, it is reportedly not the first time in 2024 that dismembered human body parts were found in the same area of Wasco.

Earlier this year, a civilian reported finding a dismembered hand, which was turned in to local authorities. No further information was ever publicly released by the police department.
Tellez was reportedly apprehended by police in this latter incident. He was arrested and given a misdemeanor charge of recovering human body parts that are "not a cemetery and without approval from law enforcement." Tellez also had outstanding warrants for other crimes.
Tellez is so well known in Wasco that locals were shocked to find out that he had been arrested and charged for carrying around and allegedly eating a severed human leg.
"Whatever he had in his hand, he started biting on it, and it turned out to be a person's leg," a local construction worker who witnessed the incident told local media.
"In the video that we have, it shows clearly that he started chewing on the leg and everything."
As far as we know, the victim who was struck and killed by the train and whose leg was in Tellez's possession has not been identified, and locals in Wasco say they do not know the person's identity either.
"How do you come across a severed leg and think, 'yeah, I'm gonna eat that,'" asked one commenter about this disturbing story.
"Starvation will cause people to do things they might not even consider otherwise," responded another, pointing to inflation and the ever-widening gap between rich and poor.
Others suggested that America is becoming so zombie-fied that incidents like this are becoming less shocking.
"This is the most bizarre story I've ever seen," one said. "I'm glad he was arrested because he's a zombie for sure."
"This is more than a mental health issue," said another. "This is cannibalism. Demons are real."
"Welcome to the newest third-world nation," said someone else about what America is fast becoming as the economy implodes.
