According to the New York Times, Hoffman's donation came after the chief executive for JPMorgan Chase, Jamie Dimon urged Democrat donors to donate to Haley through the SFA Fund Inc. super PAC.
Hoffman admitted in May that he had visited Epstein's Caribbean island Little St. James. He told the Wall Street Journal, "It gnaws me that, by lending my association, I helped his reputation, and thus delayed justice for his survivors."
Then-MIT Media Lab director Joi Ito said that Hoffman "attended a few fundraising events at [his] request, including one trip to Little St. James, after [he] confirmed to Reid that Mr. Epstein had been an approved donor target for MIT in accordance with university rules and regulations.”
The Times noted that Hoffman also helped fund a civil lawsuit against former President Trump brought by E. Jean Carroll who alleged that he raped and defamed her. Former Trump adviser Steve Bannon reportedly said Hoffman was a "Trump hater of just epic proportions."
The National Pulse reported that Hoffman also "contributed more than $600,000 to the legal defense fund of Bean LLC — otherwise known as Fusion GPS, the company responsible for the creation of the Steele Dossier." The now-discredited Steele Dossier made claims that Trump conspired with the Russian government during the 2016 election.
Haley has been vocal about being willing to accept donations from "Anybody that wants to come to support the cause." She said on Fox News, "Whether they’re Republican, independent or Democrat, we’re going to take them."
In a statement on X, Rep. Lance Gooden (R-TX) said that "Haley should return that money," after it was pointed out Hoffman had visited Epstein's private island.
Earlier last month Reid Hoffman donated $250,000 to Nikki Haley’s super pac.
Hoffman has also helped fund the frivolous E Jean Carroll Lawsuit against President Trump.
