Editor's Review:Provides an introduction to the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the "energetics" of foods. Emphasizing a holistic approach throughout, Chinese Nutrition Therapy provides readers with tools for integrating the principles of Chinese dietetics into their daily lives. Reader Reviews: This book is THE BEST book on chinese nutrition I have ever been able to find! The author is a Licensed Acupuncurist and a Medical Doctor from Germany and extremely detailed, thorough, and organized. There are chapters explaining Traditional Chinese Medicine Theory, General Nutrition, Common Disease Patterns and Food Treatment, Individual Food Therapeutics, Case Studies, Food Tables by Energetics, and Food Tables by Name. I'm in love with this book! It is easy to use, and very practical! A must have for your library if you like nutrition, chinese medicine, or just want to treat health problems naturally with food! Try it out! You won't regret it!Our family has recently seen a Chinese nutritionist to help my son's acne and my daughter's digestive problems. This philosophy of eating is in juxtaposition to the typical American diet we have consumed all our lives, so this book was helpful in clarifying instructions from our nutritionist. The philosophy of Chinese medicine is well explained, even for a newcomer like me. It explains what foods are acceptable, in what combination, with what health problems. It was interesting to learn how climate changes affect the foods you should be eating. Much of the book is actually written for the use of a nutritionist, with notes on which herbs to prescribe. The book is well organized, making it easy to look up certain foods or food types. Overall, I would recommend this book.If you are a practitioner of TCM looking for a text that is theoretically sound and clinically relevant, look no further. Its modern layout, use of currently accepted terminology and comprehensiveness make this book a great leap forward for education and practice in TCM Nutrition.
