Feeding the Whole Family also features an extremely handy "Identifying, Shopping, & Storing Whole Foods" glossary, a complete index and delightful stories and illustrations. The book is bound with a special binding that lies flat. This is the perfect gift for new parents. Reader Reviews: The only thing wrong with this book is that the title implies that you have to have children to enjoy it. Actually it is a Must-Have for EVERY kitchen. It's THAT good. Most of the recipes are out-of-this-world great, the rest are just great. Everytime I serve something from this book, I am asked for the recipe. I always praise the book highly, though occasional I simply can't settle with just giving a recommendation so I gift the book.
Yes, I'm a huge fan of this book. Try it. Try it. You will see. You will like her recipes. :)I love this book. In fact, I've just come back to Amazon to order a copy as a gift for a friend who is breastfeeding a newborn. My copy falls open at page 94, Karen's Sesame Noodles, because we make that all the time! There are lots of great, nutritious recipes in here that our whole family loves!!
Don't miss page 180, either. Luscious Beet Salad with Toasted Pumpkin Seeds. I have converted all of the non-beet eaters in my extended family (myself included) with this recipe.
Thank you, Cynthia for this gem of a book!Wonderful ideas for feeding the very youngest to the very oldest in one meal. Plus Cynthia encourages complementary menus to bring balance to every meal. This book will bring you out of the everyday same old food choices and bring you into a variety of whole foods and concepts.
This is a great cookbook. Full of easy, delicious recipes that my kids love. The author uses easy-to-find ingredients (as long as you have access to a natural food store) and many of her meals can be prepared in 30 minutes. Almost every recipe I've prepared has been a hit and many have become staple meals for us.My family has enjoyed every meal I've made from this book! I'm not much for long, complicated recipes. This book has easy recipes with lots of substitutions. We do buy a lot from health food stores, but our local grocery has most of the ingredients, or at least substitutions (spaghetti for udon, peanut butter for almond butter). We never found mirin, but the recipes with this ingredient are great without.
I could hardly put this book down. [...] I found this book not only full of beneficial information, but easy to follow and easy to find ingredients.
