Here's another report on Melanotan, a synthetic hormone that more quickly darkens the skin of people who take it, thereby protecting them from ultraviolet sunlight -- in other words, it lets them tan more quickly so that they can go out, get more sun, and get the benefits from that natural sunlight without the risk of getting sunburned. As I've mentioned previously, I believe this hormone holds tremendous promise for improving the health of people by enabling them to get more natural sunlight without being afraid of health risks associated with burning, especially when that person is pale or not nutritionally prepared to be exposed to sunlight on a regular basis. (Remember, the foods you eat hold tremendous influence over your skin's sensitivity to sunlight.)
Unfortunately, I suspect that the primary use of this will be cosmetic. People will take Melanotan in order to get the appearance of a tan without any concern whatsoever for the potential health benefits it may offer. However, I will continue to mention this item as a replacement for sunscreen, because if you're using this hormone to give yourself enhanced pigmentation, you don't need sunscreen -- your skin already has the protection it needs.
Remember, getting a tan is the natural adaptation of your body in response to exposure to a level of sunlight for which it is not yet prepared. But this does not mean sunlight is dangerous -- the only thing dangerous is getting far more sunlight than you are prepared for at that particular moment. Getting sunlight at the levels for which your body has adapted is extremely good for your health -- in fact, it is essential for your good health.
Sunlight offers essential vibrational nutrition that is needed by the human body for health and wellness, both physically and mentally. That's why sunlight has been shown to prevent mental depression, osteoporosis, prostate cancer, breast cancer, and to even help eliminate carbohydrate cravings.
